THE ASSEMBLY LINE NYFW FW19
For New York Fashion Week AW2019, we created a fashion show completely out of other peoples donated garments, an idea never previously done. The show was promoted to be a true community-building experience.
The greatest part of this whole process was the bond made between KidSuper Studios, KMG Studio, and the group of sewers and volunteers that helped on the project. A family of like-minded creatives was established, and nearly all involved have remained close friends.
For the fashion show, KMG Studio was commissioned by KidSuper to run and oversee all screenprinting operations for the entire two-month exhibition. This included choosing which of the KidSuper graphics were used, the layout design for the dozen-or-so screens, equipment setup and maintanence, print execution, and more.
For two months, nearly every day was worked 9am-2am on average. During open exhibition hours, there would be a team of 2-4 screen-printers on duty.
While living at the Assembly Line factory, KMG Studio was commissioned by Jagermeister to design all of the graphics for the photo-wall, DJ booth, promotional Jagermeister bottles, and Jagermeister x KidSuper merch.
The electrical design for lighting, DJ’s, sewing machines, and screenprinting area was also determined and relayed through the proper channels by KMG Studio.
Runway models included Action Bronson, DaniLeigh, the Clermont twins, Lolo Zouai, Bodega Bamz, Blue DeTigre, and many others.
PARIS FASHION WEEK AW20
For the PFW "Running as Fast as You Can" fashion show, Colm said that "The idea behind this show concept was the realization that on a day to day basis we aren't pushing ourselves to the maximum."
A few days prior to the event Colm called me from Paris for a last minute animation of one of his paintings to use as the invitation, merch, and opening to the show. A few hours later I sent him the visuals and the rest is history.
KMGSUPER BACKPACKS SS20
To commemorate the impact of The Assembly Line NYFW show and the family-like bond made between KidSuper Studios, KMG Studio, and all the volunteers involved, 50 backpacks were created in the likeness of the original KidSuper backpack that KMG Studio printed during the event.
The backpacks came in five colorways and featured five screenprinted KidSuper Studios graphics, an embroidered 'Factory Worker' patch, a hand-sewn leather KMG Studio patch, a vintage KidSuper tag, and a KMG Studio x KidSuper numbered rolling paper droptag.
The backpacks were released on the KMG Studio website with the SS20 collection and sold out in less than two weeks. Photos taken by So Krispy Productions.
SUPERPUMA "SCRAM" CARTOON
For the epic and long-awaited KidSuper x Puma SUPERPUMA collaboration, KidSuper Studios decided to release an animated cartoon to debut the collection.
Since KidSuper and KMG Studio initially struck their friendship over a tagged post and meeting regarding the creation of a KidSuper cartoon by KMG Studio, Colm reached out regarding the script and initial character design. After colorizing and animating a few character sketches from Colm, they were sent to Puma and approved for a cartoon series shortly thereafter.
Although Puma and KidSuper Studios decided to go with a bigger animation studio for the production, KMG Studio was commissioned to help create the promotional trailer, Puma.com website banners, social media posts, character PNG's, and the most legendary NYC Times Square billboards ever.
